A press conference was held earlier today for the Skechers Sundown Festival 2014, the biggest Asian music festival in Singapore. This year’s line up features artistes from across 11 countries.
One of the opening acts for the event tomorrow will be ShiGGa Shay, a hip hop artist, songwriter and music producer based in Singapore. When asked how he feels about Asia and Skechers Sundown Festival, his reply was Asia is unique with many different cultures and Skechers Sundown Festival is like a united nation of music with artistes from various countries playing different music styles.

CROSS GENE is a six-member boy group based in South Korea, including members from Japan and China. The group is delighted to know that they have fans in Singapore and China, and have plans to record songs in Mandarin. They feel honoured to be invited as Korea’s representatives for Skechers Sundown Festival and will perform their best.

Japanese band, WEAVER is no stranger to the local Japanese music fans. This is their fourth time in Singapore, and they have revealed that they have composed some songs in English for tomorrow’s performance at Skechers Sundown Festival. When asked what their first impression of Singapore were when they first came, the members all agreed that the country is a comfortable place for them as the food is nice and everywhere is beautiful. They love Singapore.
Piano-rock band WEAVER from Japan
Regina is a multi-talented DJ-Singer from Guangzhou and this is her first visit to Singapore. She loves bak-kut-teh, especially the pepper version which left a deep impression on her. She also loves some of the buildings which she finds artistic-looking here.
Indonesian girl group, S.O.S, which stands for Sensation of Stage is collaboration between Indonesia and Korea. The girls went through a year of training in Korea and are happy to represent Indonesia for this year’s Skechers Sundown Festival.

From India, Kanika Kapoor is a mother, singer and model as well, for various famous designer brands, including Louis Vuitton and Karl Lagerfeld. She wants to be an inspiration to her children through her singing and her work.
BIG ASS is a five-piece band from Thailand. They have visited Singapore a few times and performed at Sentosa about 2 months ago. The band mentioned that they love Singapore because it is very close to their home.
Rock band, PUPIL is from Manila, Philippines. They would love to collaborate with the other artistes at Skechers Sundown Festival because everyone is different.
Hong Kong drama fans will be familiar with TVB actress and singer, Kate Tsui. She has visited Singapore many times and was here last month for another event. Kate loves pandan cake, laksa and chicken rice. When asked how she managed to keep fit and maintain the way she looks even after eating all her favourite food, she commented that she loved sharing her food with all the staff working with her.
Singapore’s very own Olivia Ong is happy to be home again. She is excited to be part of this year’s Skechers Sundown Festival and would love to collaborate with the other artistes if there is an opportunity.
Taiwanese rock musician, Chang Chen Yue, also known as A-Yue, is a veteran in the Mandarin music scene. To him, good music is based not solely on technique but also on the ability to touch someone’s heart and be easy to pick up.
