Our next featured band is Kyuso Nekokami (キュウソネコカミー)! They will be performing for the first time in Singapore 16 March 2017 at SPACE SHOWER RETSUDEN ASIA TOUR 2017 powered by MCIP. Check out this interview to find out more about the band.
1.Please introduce yourselves to our ROCKSIN readers!
Kyuso Nekokami comprises Seiya Yamasaki (Vocals and Guitar), Shinosuke Yokota (Vocals and Keyboard), Takuro Kawakubo (Bass), Kazuma Okazawa (Guitar) and Taisuke Sogo (Drums).
2.What does your band name mean and who came up with it?
[Seiya] It means that even in the face of a strong opponent, we never give up and are prepared to put our lives on the line and fight back. I thought of the name of the band.
3.How long have you all known each other? How did everyone meet and decided to form a band?
[Yokota] We were all in the same music club in university. I was especially close to Seiya and Sogo and instead of looking for jobs, we decided to form a band. Even if we didn’t hold proper jobs, we thought that, we’ll be able to do something interesting with these members.
4.Can you briefly describe the music-making process?
[Yokota] We usually write our songs while jamming in a studio. We start with a phrase that Seiya (Vo) thought of and we all build on that by experimenting. The lyrics are all by Seiya.
5.How did you all decide to write Phantom Vibration, a song about people & their mobile phones? Is anyone in the band addicted to their mobile phone?
[Seiya] When I added music to the iPhone ringtone, the idea that “The smartphone is now one of my organs,” sprung up. Everyone in the group can’t seem to let go of their phones.
6.If you can have one Super Power, what power would you want & why?
[Seiya] Flight (from Dragon Ball series)
[Okazawa] The power to recover immediately no matter how tired I am. I tend to sleep a lot otherwise.
[Sogo] I want to have the power to teleport! We usually travel to a lot of different places for our tours and I also always have a bad case of stomachache so I’d love to be able to reach the toilet as soon as possible!
[Yokota] If I could have a superpower, I want to become invisible. I won’t explicitly reveal my reasons but I think every guy knows what I mean.
[Takuro] I want to possess telekinetic powers. I don’t like troublesome things so it’ll be really practical for getting the remote control or turning the lights off. If I had too great a power, I’d be expected to save the world and all wouldn’t I? That’s too troublesome!
7.Have any of you ever been to Singapore in your own free time? Is there anything you are looking forward to do in Singapore?
[Okazawa] I’d like to visit the Singapore Zoo.
[Sogo] I want to see the Merlion. Since I’ve never been overseas, I’d also like to take in the sights and sounds of the streets.
[Yokota] I want to go to that place with the swimming pool at the top of the hotel. I’m also a fan of ethnic food so I want to go to restaurants that are famous for Singaporean dishes.
[Takuro] Definitely Marina Bay Sands. I want to challenge myself and see if I can resist the temptations of the casino.
8.Please leave a message for your fans in Singapore.
As it is our first performance overseas, we are planning to do a show that have been well received by our Japanese fans so we hope you guys would like it too. We will do our best for the show and hope that our fans to sing and dance along while enjoying our performance.
